SINGAPORE: In what is reportedly the largest 3D projection mapping event to take place in Singapore, a total of 16 Christie projectors have been selected for the three-week long i Light Marina Bay 2012 light art festival, which started on March 1st.
Projected onto the ArtScience Museum in Marina Bay Sands area, 12 Christie Roadster HD20K-J and four Christie Roadster HD18K projectors have been installed for the festival for its ‘Garden of Light’ theme.
‘Christie is very pleased to be part of this unique festival celebrating sustainability and energy efficiency,’ said Lin Yu, vice president, Christie Asia Pacific. ‘Care for the environment is one of our key global initiatives in our corporate social responsibility agenda.’
‘Besides using digital projectors capable of displaying images in very high resolution and brightness, we are also employing a variety of light and sound effects to tell a story about environmental sustainability and to highlight the beauty of the natural world,’ said Adrian Goh, managing director of Hexogon Solution Pte Ltd, who commissioned the project. ‘The outcome is a tantalising visual treat that can be appreciated from various vantage points throughout Marina Bay.’
According to Jonathan Lim, general manager of Christie Singapore, this marks the first time the Christie HD20K-J projector has been used for an outdoor 3D projection mapping in Singapore.
The i Light Marina Bay is reported to be the only festival in Asia to advocate the use of energy-efficient lighting technology for a sustainable future. To reinforce this, the festival features energy-efficient light shows, displays and entertaining performances, as well as workshops and competitions that aim to prompt people to develop a more heightened level of consciousness for a more sustainable lifestyle.
