A Square goes digital with help from A&H

INDIA: A Square, a new Indian rehearsal and ‘jam’ studio located in Lucknow, the capital of Uttar Pradesh, has taken receipt of a new Allen & Heath GLD-80 digital mixing desk. The new studio will be first ‘digital’ studio opened by owner Jam Pad, and has been designed to act as a hub for bands to meet and network, as well to provide teaching facilities for aspiring musicians. All audio equipment for the project was integrated courtesy of distributor Sun Infonet.
Audio equipment in the studio is based around the GLD-80 console, with a GLD-AR2412 rack set-up to facilitate DAW connectivity for recording via the mixer’s M-Dante card.
‘I cannot imagine my studio without the GLD-80 mixer because it is the heart of A Square,’ explain Mr Saumyasheel, audio manager for the studio. ‘Due to the huge number of inputs in this mixer, I can include a number of instruments and vocalists. I use the copy and paste function to arrive at a basic channel setting and experiment with the GLD's 'ganging' function, which makes it very easy to link up channels in any combination, not just adjacent pairs. As I expected from Allen & Heath, it is a complete package.’
‘It’s the first of its kind in Uttar Pradesh and it’s made by people who know the nitty-gritty of the music business,’ added Shailesh Awasthi, product specialist at Sun Infonet. ‘Having jammed at A Square, I can say that the sound is great and bands can rehearse with the feel of live sound and do recording as well.’
