ACETA launches Australian Entertainment Technology Week

AUSTRALIA: The Australian Commercial and Entertainment Technologies Association (ACETA) has announced the launch of Australian Entertainment Technology Week. The inaugural industry event will take place in Sydney in July 2013, and participants will include ENTECH, ACETA, the Audio Engineering Society (AES) and the Australian Lighting Industry Association (ALIA).
The dividing walls between the SMPTE and ENTECH shows will be opened up, and the week‐long event will incorporate leading industry trade shows and key industry associations, and promises to bring together a number of significant players in the sector under the one roof.
Meanwhile, ACETA has also announced the acceptance of a proposal to specifically partner with ENTECH, which will see several changes to the familiar ENTECH format.
These include introducing an area named ‘the ACETA Australian Hall of Manufacturers’, which will serve as a dedicated space for Australian designers and manufacturers – which will be promoted worldwide. A strong focus will be placed upon bringing in buyers and potential distributors from Asia and the Middle East.
The ACETA Industry Skills Pavilion will also be introduced, which will be used to promote career opportunities in the industry and provide mentoring programmes and careers oriented workshops. Also new will be an ACETA‐guided workshop and presentations programme, where ACETA will convene a committee to work with Exhibitions and Trade Fairs (ETF) to further develop the industry-focused workshop and presentation programme. A dedicated area for music products that overlap into the entertainment technology sector will also be introduced in 2013.
‘Australian Entertainment Technology Week is about inclusion, unity and is a ‘by the industry for the industry’ platform,’ stated Frank Hinton, president of ACETA. ‘It shows that no party is more important than any other and proclaims renewal, leaving the door wide open for expansion and development should other shows or associations want to join. This now gives the industry a very clear voice and opportunity to participate in creating a sustainable and unified industry platform which is the ultimate destination.’
‘When ACETA convened the roundtable discussions about the crowded trade show calendar it was the ideal opportunity for us to get closer to the industry, to better understand everyone’s wants and needs,’ commented Stephen Dallimore, event manager for ENTECH. ‘Working with ACETA, we can bring expertise in running an event and they can bring the voice of the industry into the heart of our planning. We think this has to be a win: win, and look forward to seeing a new, invigorated ENTECH in 2013.’
‘Many people across the industry have provided input into this outcome not to mention encouragement, most gratefully received,’ furthered Mr Hinton. ‘There will be significant ACETA member benefits and we do hope everyone will benefit from this development.’
