Alcons Audio announces Mumbai and Bangalore offices

INDIA: Dutch loudspeaker manufacturer Alcons Audio has announced the opening of two new offices in Mumbai and Bangalore, both of which will reportedly offer full factory support. The two locations are intended as the spearhead of a wider launch into the country, with expansion planned into more cities in the near future.
According to Alcons managing director Tom Back, the move follows the manufacturer’s recent growth in the United States. ‘Having successfully established our American presence, India is the next step,’ he explained. ‘It is an important growth market – like Brazil, China, the US and Europe – and since we didn’t have a distribution presence we have set up direct offices.’
The offices will be led by Alcons Audio India Pvt Ltd managing director John-Paul Douma, while a number of additional hires have already been announced including sales manager Dhaval Mastakar, technical support manager Amesh Sharma, and head of marketing Akshata Sirsikar.
According to Mr Douma, the prospect of direct factory support is a key driver behind the offices’ creation. ‘A quality brand like Alcons requires direct factory support so that we can give reliable and sustainable technical advice and customer support,’ he commented. ‘It is a commitment to our brand and to India, saying we’re here and we’re here to stay.’
Among the market segments that Alcons is intending to target are tour sound, the installation sector and the cinema industry, with Mr Back adding: ‘Apart from being a growth market, India has a rich cinema tradition and we have the optimal products for this’.
Having first entered the Indian market by exhibiting at Palm India 2011, Alcons will again return to the Mumbai show between May 31st and June 2nd, where Mr Back will conduct a seminar named ‘The Sound Characteristics of the Pro Ribbon Driver’.
