Alcons Audio targets Indian market at Palm Expo 2011

INDIA: Dutch loudspeaker manufacturer Alcons Audio is focusing on the Indian market with plans to exhibit for the first time at next week’s Palm Expo 2011, which is taking place at the Bombay Exhibition Centre in Mumbai between June 2nd and 4th. The company’s co-founder Tom Back will also host a seminar on pro-ribbon transducer technology on Saturday June 4th.
Alcons is known internationally for its use of pro-ribbon transducers, but the manufacturer’s appearance at Palm Expo 2011 marks its first serious attempt to crack India’s rapidly growing market. ‘With the Indian market growing in the entertainment sector, of which Bollywood is just one part, we thought the time was right to explore this new territory,’ explained Mr Back.
Among the products that the company will be presenting for the first time in the country will be the LR7 micro pro-ribbon line-array, the QR36 line-source column, and cabinets from its Digital Cinema range. Meanwhile, the seminar – titled Pro-ribbon transducer technology enabling hi-fi at concert Sound Pressure Levels – will see Mr Back explain the history and technical background of pro-ribbon technology, as well as introducing real-world applications. The seminar is set to take place at 1pm.
‘Since we first announced our presence at the show, we’ve received overwhelming interest from sound engineers, consultants and rental company owners alike. We have a lot of meetings with the crème de la crème of the Indian professional audio business organised, to which we’re very much looking forward,’ Mr Back enthused.
