Allen & Heath brings the OR into the classroom

INDIA: The newly opened Laser Speciality Centre at the Sri Aurobindo Institute of Medical Sciences (SAIMS) has been equipped with an audiovisual system for its new Interactive Seminar Centre. System integrator Audio Cratz carried out the installation with equipment distributed exclusively from Sun Infonet Pvt Ltd.

Situated in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, SAIMS employs a wide selection of diagnostic facilities ranging from interventional cardiology and radiology to non-interventional techniques. The institute building has been aesthetically designed and built to provide students with an environment conducive to learning. As well as housing all of the medical departments, the building contains lecture theatres, fully equipped labs, dissection halls, a museum and a library.

In the new Laser Speciality Centre the management wanted to build an interactive seminar room where live operations could be streamed from up to three operation theatres simultaneously. The idea is that the doctors can demonstrate surgical techniques to students using endoscopic and conference cameras.

Audio Cratz installed an Allen & Heath ZED-420 into the centre’s control room that will be used to capture stereo recordings from the operation rooms alongside the video feeds.

'We have the best quality Allen & Heath products supplied by Sun Infonet Pvt and installed at the Laser, which is one of the best interactive seminar centres in India,’ said Dr Vinod Bhandari, chairman of SAIMS Indore. ‘We have successfully conducted a number of interactive sessions after installing Allen & Heath's mixer.’
