SINGAPORE: Audio-Technica (SEA) sponsored the recent 15th Yamaha Asian Beat amateur band competition at the Kallang Theatre by providing a plethora of microphones for all competitors.
‘Yamaha Asian Beats generally look for a product sponsor that can provide us with high quality equipment with a wide range of total solution microphones that range from vocals to instruments,’ commented Azman Nirwan, who has been the Asian Beats stage manager for over 10 years. ‘The difference between the size and scale of the event also meant that for the grand finals, the requirement for top end equipment was double that of the local finals. So the expectation was close to world class standard. Audio-Technica was able to provide that consistently.’
Lead vocalists used the brand’s AE5400 Artist Elite series microphones, whilst ATM610 Artist series dynamic mics were used to capture all vocals. In addition, an Artist Elite 5000 series wireless system was provided for presenters, which included eight AEW-T6100 hypercardioid dynamic transmitters, four AEW-R5200 receivers, an ATW-DA700 UHF antenna distribution system and an ATW-A74P active antenna.
Moving on to instruments, an AE2500 and ATM250 were used on the kick-drum, whilst ATM350s and ATM250s outfitted the tom, timbales and brass section. ATM650s were mounted on the snares, percussion and hi-hats along with ATM450s and AE5100s. In addition, AE3000s were used for the guitar amplifiers.
