Audio-Technica (SEA) supports AMG Jam Fest

SINGAPORE: Audio-Technica (SEA) recently provided support for the third AMG Jam Fest, a free two-day event organised by Alliance Music Group. The theme this year was ‘Arts & Music Extravaganza’, and Audio-Technica (SEA) provided a range of microphones for the many musical performances that took place at the Scape venue in Singapore.
Specifically, Audio-Technica provided a mixture of Artist Elite 5000 series wireless systems, which included the AEW-R5200 dual receiver and ATW-A74 active LPDA antenna, an ATW-DA700 antenna distribution system, whilst vocalists used AEW-T6100a handheld hypercardioid dynamic transmitters.
Alex Carrasco, a professional monitor engineer from Mexico, commented that Audio-Technica's wireless system was ‘really consistent and easy to sync, it's very impressive, as were the microphones. They provided a crisper sound and didn’t need much tuning. The vocal mics produced a sweet and precise sound, and although the monitor mixers were very loud on stage, the polar patterns worked like a charm.’
The ATM350 clip-on instrument condenser mics outfitted the tom drums, while the ATM650 instrument dynamic mics were mounted on guitar amplifiers and snare drums. An ATM450 instrument side-address condenser was used for the high-hat, whilst the drum set overhead and ride cymbal used an AE3000 instrumental side-address condenser mic. Additionally, an ATM250DE dual element kick drum model was applied to the kick drum, with an ATM610 hyper cardioid mic for timbales.
‘I really love the frequency response of the microphones for the instruments, especially the ones for the drum set,’ enthused Mr Carrasco. ‘Sometimes you need to do a little tuning and tweaking, but the Audio-Technica microphones are really clear. I don't really have to tune it at all. Some microphone brands may require EQ and some more effort to get the right “colour”, but Audio-Technica's are really flat. Also, the microphones response in high frequencies is remarkable and crisp without the “harsh edges”. And the clip-on system is smart, easy and impressively strong that it stays in place even after thirty bands.’
Marc Ban, the director of Alliance Music, added that ‘many of the local drummers were delighted with the massive range of microphones available for the drum set and performers were glad to have unrestricted movements using the Audio-Technica wireless microphones.’
