SINGAPORE: As part of an ongoing effort to support the Singaporean music scene, Audio-Technica is sponsoring a new bilingual music venue located in the NTUC Trade Union House on Singapore’s Bras Basah.
Named Switch and hosting performances in both Mandarin and English, the 300-seat venue is the latest to be opened by the Timbre Group, a holding company with a range of music and lifestyle based businesses including a music education academy. The Audio-Technica sponsorship comes as part of what the manufacturer describes as ‘channelling our efforts to promote the local music industry’.
Among the AT microphones in use are models from the manufacturer’s Artist Elite series of vocal microphones, including the AE4100 and AE6100. Elsewhere, an AE2500 is used to capture the kick drum whilst three ATM350 mics are used for the tom and snares alongside two AE5100 instrument mics for overheads, plus two ATM650 models used to mic guitar amplifiers. Musicians can also use a pair of ATH-M50 monitor headphones.
In addition, two sets of wireless systems have been supplied, comprising an ATW-3141b with an ATW-T341b cardioid dynamic handheld transmitter, and an ATW-702 with an ATW-T702 unidirectional dynamic handheld transmitter.
‘We like Audio-Technica’s brand energy and marketing direction,’ explained Danny Loong, co-founder and chief creative director of Timbre Group. ‘We think that this partnership of Audio-Technica's range of high quality products combined with the vibrant live music brands of Timbre Group will prove to be synergistic and pave the way for other projects.’
Vincent Chan, managing director of Audio-Technica (SEA) Pte Ltd, added: ‘Local musicians should be given the opportunity to nurture their musical abilities and showcase their talents on a larger stage. Switch is definitely a good platform for our young talents to do so. Hence, Audio-Technica is proud to be part of this collaboration.’
