Babyface nightclub refurbishment completed with APG

CHINA: APG distributors BVCAM helped Chinese entrepreneur Mr Dai choose an APG sound system to complete the refurbishment of the Babyface nightclub. Following Mr Dai’s purchase of the Beijing-based club, he specified that he wanted it to ‘stand out from the crowd by having the best sound system available.’
After Mr Dai stated that he considers APG to have a ‘uniquely pure sound that sets it apart from other brands’, a demonstration of the sound system was promptly organised by BVCAM in its APG demo room in Shenzhen. After witnessing the demonstration and consulting peers for opinions, Mr Dai stated that he found the system to be a ‘straightforward choice’, and one that was ‘perfect for Babyface’.
For the main room, BVCAM specified six SMX15 monitor speakers. Meanwhile, six TB218S subwoofers were chosen to handle the low frequencies supplemented by DS15 full-range speakers, whilst Sub238 subwoofers were selected for side fill.
The club’s VIP dual-level King Room is equipped with DS12 and DS15 multipurpose enclosures on the lower level, whilst DS8 speakers were selected for the upper section. A further 12, smaller VIP rooms are equipped with two DS12s and one Sub138P subwoofer each. These rooms offer guests the opportunity to choose between an audio feed from the main dance floor or from their own private DJ.
A number of MX1 full-range speakers handle audio coverage in the entrance and throughout the toilet facilities, with BVCAM stating that they were selected ‘for their compact, discreet profile and broad dispersion characteristics’.
BVCAM’s Danny Huen commented on the completed install: ‘One of our main priorities for the sound design was to ensure the same SPL throughout the room, regardless of whether you’re sitting in the furthest corner or if you’re right in the middle of the dance floor. It doesn’t matter where you are in the room – the sound quality remains homogenous throughout, and of extremely high quality’, he enthused.
APG’s sales and marketing director, Xavier Pion, was quick to praise BVCAMs part in the installation: ‘This installation at Babyface proves yet again that we made the right choice with BVCAM as our distributor in China. They have done an excellent job on this big project’, he said proudly. ‘It’s also a testament to the versatility of the SMX15s which are just as well suited to the requirements of big clubs – such as Babyface – as they are to the stage. They wanted the best, and it is a great satisfaction that the customer is happy with the result’, he concluded.
Mr Dai is said to be ‘delighted’ with the results and is planning to use APG in the renovation of his next project.
Babyface is a part of a chain of nightclubs, the Beijing venue being the eighth to open in 2004.
