BBAU University gets advanced PA from Sun Infonet

INDIA: Sun Infonet has announced the successful installation of an ‘advanced PA system’ into the Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University (BBAU), in Lucknow. The system was designed by Sun Infonet, installed by local system integrator Ravi Electronics, and comprised Shure, Nexo, Quest, Allen & Heath and Camco equipment.

As part of its upgrade, the auditorium required a PA system capable of delivering ‘a powerful yet controlled performance in any live situation, with particular consideration given to speech reinforcement and broadcast sound’. To accomplish this Sun Infonet used Quest’s three-way 900W QM 215FR system for the main speakers, its high output QM 12MP stage monitors, and a wall-mounted broad-dispersion 6.5-inch MS 601 monitor speaker system.
Amplification for the main system was provided by Quest’s QA 3004 whilst the stage monitors have been powered by Quest’s QA 2004 amplifier. Additionally, the university’s green room and waiting area were supplied with Quest’s QTA 6120 and QTA 1480 respectively.

For microphones, Shure’s SM58 and SM57 have been used extensively throughout, with the portable SVX88, SVX1 and SVX2 handling moving performers on stage. Shure’s SRH840 was selected for control room monitoring of live performances, whilst its CVG18 gooseneck microphone has also been used for the control room and podium. Additionally Shure’s DFR22 2x2 audio processor controls feedback reduction and signal processing.

To compliment the main system and maximise sound coverage, Nexo PS15-R2 speakers were fitted under the balcony and powered by a Camco Vortex 200v. Nexo RS15s subwoofers were fitted under the stage and powered by a Camco Vortex 6 amplifier. According to Sun Infonet, ‘the PS15-R2s were particularly suited to this task with their vertical coverage being narrower above the horn axis’.

With Shure providing inputs, and Quest and Nexo providing the speakers, the task of managing the system has been given to Allen & Heath, with its four-bus ZED-428 mixer handling processing and synchronisation.

Commenting on the result achieved at BBAU, Mr Vijay Sinha, product specialist at Sun Infonet, said ‘the system sounds uniform and clean all around the auditorium, which is what we all expected. The Quest motion speaker systems just add the cherry to the cake.’
