Beijing Tianyin Cai Yun deploys Harman system for Chinas Olympic Start Ceremony

CHINA: Beijing Tianyin Cai Yun recently deployed a Harman sound reinforcement system for China’s Olympic Start Ceremony, which was held to wish the Chinese National Team success in the upcoming 2012 Summer Olympics.

Comprised of four chapters, the elaborate ceremony took place in the Guangzhou Sea Sand area, and welcomed the Chinese Olympic Committee, former Olympic athletes, and a number of well-known singers as well as Olympic supporters.

To cover the entire audience area, four clusters of four JBL VerTec VT4889s and two VT4887A line array elements were suspended, whilst six clusters of five VT4889s and an additional 12 VT4880 subwoofers were stacked on the ground throughout the arena. A total of 24 JBL SRX712M loudspeakers with external sub-frequency processing completed the speaker set-up for the event.

Crown’s IT-HD series amplifiers powered the line arrays and balanced the speaker delay. Meanwhile, Soundcraft Vi6 and Vi1 digital consoles were utilised to mix the PA system. Producers of the event credited Soundcraft’s ‘user-friendly operation, high sound quality and stable performance’ as a substantial contributing factor towards the success of the show.

British X Factor contestant Cher Lloyd, American pop singer Kelly King and Chinese singer Tan Weiwei performed at the event.
