TAIWAN: Conference systems from Taiwanese manufacturer BXB have been installed at the National Kaohsiung University of Hospitality and Tourism (NKUHT). Conducted by Fong Fu Technology, the installation replaced an older conference system in use that relied on proprietary network connections. The new system from BXB uses standardised Cat-5 cabling that can be more easily and reliably maintained.
Built around the manufacturer’s latest FCS 6000 system, an FCS 6350 Digital main control unit was installed in the International Conference Hall. The microphone units installed are from the manufacturer’s UFO Series. A single UFO 6311 tabletop microphone was selected for the chairman position with 81 UFO 6312 tabletop microphones units distributed for the delegates. The units are equipped with DSP and automatic gain control that allows the system to automatically adjust levels and sources from the control unit. Additionally, three BXB SH-720 HD Speed Domes were installed. These link directly with the FCS 6350 to perform automatic spokesman position tracking. A D-7313H control keyboard and DG-840 digital image switcher/processor are also present to provide control over the Speed Domes.
The fourth floor conference room in the University’s administration building has also been newly equipped with an FCS 6051 Digital Conference main control unit. A single UFO 2011 tabletop microphone was selected for the chairman position with 15 UFO 2012 tabletop microphones for the delegates. A total of eight WS-802T speakers are embedded in the ceiling for sound reinforcement, with power for the whole system derived from three PA-160W11 amplifiers. A single PSC-1202 sequence power control unit provides additional control.
‘In addition to the nice appearance, the sound quality is much better than the retired system,’ explained Fong Fu manager, Mr Zheng. ‘Now the system is much more stable and the operation of the whole meeting is easier.’
