VIETNAM: A 400-capacity ‘luxury’ nightclub named Canalis has benefitted from a recent Harman sound system installation. Located in the centre of Ho Chi Minh City, the dance and live music venue’s sound installation was part of a US$500,000 makeover.
Following a competitive tender process, local distributors Basao Investment were awarded the contract for consultancy and installation. The company’s technical support manager Do Thanh Danh worked closely with his technical team and the club’s owner to deliver the desired solution.
Canalis’ main stage has been equipped with eight JBL AM7315/64 three-way loudspeakers, four JBL AL7115 subwoofers and six JBL ASB6128 subwoofers at both stage left and right, with four JBL SRX715F speakers acting as delays at the rear. These are powered by three Crown amp racks, respectively containing four CTs1200, six MA5000i and six MA 9000i.
The delays are powered by a further MA 5000i with a dbx DriveRack 260 processor and BSS FDS-336T Minidrive speaker management system, fed from a Soundcraft GB2/16 mixer. The mixer takes playback feeds from a CD DJ, and other outboard dynamics include a Lexicon MX400 reverb/effects processor, BSS Opal FCS-966 EQ, and a dbx 1046 Quad compressor/limiter.
Basao Investment has also specified an AKG wireless system in the shape of two channels of WMS 450 vocal set D5 true diversity wireless systems.
‘The owner is delighted, because out of the four clubs he owns, the sound quality in Canalis surpasses everywhere else,’ enthused Mr Thanh Danh.
Opening in May 2011, the club saw appearances by Vietnamese singers, Ho Ngoc Ha, Dam Vinh Hung and Duong Trieu Vu.
