CHINA: Having used and been impressed with Lawo mixing consoles since 2008, China Central Television (CCTV) has included the manufacturer’s 32-fader mc²56 and a pair of Dallis stageboxes inside its new audio-only OB van. Combined, these Lawo devices provide the Chinese state broadcaster with a hybrid sound vehicle that features both MADI and IP connectivity, as well as full operational redundancy.
Systems integrator New Digital Technology Holdings (NDT) completed the project and will reportedly be the first use of an mc²56 console with a core routing capacity of 8192x8192 and 288 DSP channels as well as Ravenna and AES67 compatible interfaces.
The van will be used for live sport and music events and was commissioned to raise the broadcaster’s sound production values in the field. A Waves SoundGrid was also integrated inside the van, providing a wide range of plug-in options.
