Cedar Audio appoints CDA Professional in Singapore Malaysia and Thailand

ASIA: Audio restoration specialist Cedar Audio has named CDA Professional (CDA) as its new distributor for Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand. Cedar managing director Gordon Reid has described the deal as ‘the first in Cedar’s on-going restructuring plan in the region – we expect to be in a position to make further announcements over the next few months.’

The new agreement builds on a relationship that the two companies have shared in Australia for ‘more than a decade’, though CDA has gradually expanded out across Asia with dedicated offices in New Zealand, Thailand, Singapore, Vietnam and China. It is described by Cedar Audio as ‘distinguished from other audio suppliers by its focus on engineering excellence’. CDA managing director Rick Dowel has described himself as ‘delighted’ with the appointment.

Mr Reid added: ‘We have been working with CDA and its parent company in Australia for more than a decade. Now, with its continuing expansion into Asia, we are pleased to be able to extend that relationship into the post, broadcast, sound archives and libraries markets in Singapore and Malaysia (both of which will be handled by CDA's office in Singapore) as well as Thailand. CDA will be maintaining demonstration stocks in Asia, making it quick and straightforward for potential users to audition our systems.’

Regarding Cedar’s increasing representation in Asia, meanwhile, Mr Reid explained that ‘the Asian market is increasingly important to Cedar, not only in the mature markets of Japan and Korea and the rapidly growing economies in China and India, but right across the region – particularly in Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, the Philippines and Indonesia.

‘Traditionally, we have had excellent penetration into the forensic and security markets in many of these countries, but our presence in post, broadcast, studios, national libraries and sound archives has lagged behind, so we are delighted that CDA is picking up the reigns in Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand.

'We are already aware of a number of companies and institutes in these countries that have a requirement for Cedar, and CDA – whose parent company, Control Devices, has supplied numerous Cedar systems in Australia – will immediately be able to provide the expertise to help and support them.’
