CharterOak moves manufacturing to US

WORLD: Over recent months CharterOak has been moving its production, quality control, and logistics to its new contract manufacturer, Paradigm Manufacturing, in Garden Grove, US. The move is part of an initiative to cease the importation of all parts with the exception of capacitors from Nichicon and Panasonic, output transformers from Lundhal, and shock mounts from Rycote. The result is that new series CharterOak microphones are reportedly 100 per cent made in the US.

‘This is all part of a 100 per cent made in the US initiative that we have undertaken, that is designed to do two things, firstly put a great deal of distance between us and some of our competition in the price range, who for years have sold rebranded “Made in China” products, using clever phrases like “Handcrafted in the USA” to describe a few tweaks and cursory quality control steps done here in the US, and secondly, to create a situation where going forward, dealer and distributor orders can be shipped one day after submission, as the contract manufacturer has the production capacity, technical apparatus and technical staff needed to handle the global demand for CharterOak products,’ explained Michael Deming, president and CEO.

‘CharterOak microphones have always been desirable for their world class and truly distinctive sound, build quality, and lifetime warranty,’ added Jennefer Wason, VP marketing and advertising. ‘The subtle refinements that have been executed, really put our products ahead of anything even close to our price range, and the elimination of Chinese made accessories such as the carrying case and shock mounts, finally eliminate our vulnerability to accusations by competitors, and rumours in the forums, that our product is made overseas.’
