Chiayo goes green as CoaCh 400 wins awards

TAIWAN: Chiayo has recently reinforced its credentials as a ‘green’ manufacturer, having been certified with two key standards – ISO 14001 (Environmental Management System) and OHSAS 18001 (Occupational Health and Safety Assurance Systems).

The Taiwanese manufacturer’s green policy ensures routine inspections in the workplace encompassing the safety and hygiene of its staff. Extra training for employees was undertaken with the intention of passing ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001, including education seminars held in staff-members’ spare time.

Additionally, the Taiwanese manufacturer has been crowned with the 20th Taiwan Excellence Award for the CoaCh 400 wireless speaker system.

A total of 1,145 products were submitted for the Taiwan Excellence Award, and following intensive examinations of all the entries, the judges singled out 441 of the products to receive an award as an outstanding example of Taiwanese manufacturing. Chiayo was recognised by the committee members for its energy saving compliances and for having used environmentally sustainable materials in the design of the CoaCh 400.

Finally, the Coach 400 was also awarded a Gold medal at the Seoul International Invention Fair in December 2011. Following the presentation, the company declared that the prize should be credited to the Chiayo R&D team, who spent two years designing the CoaCh 400, making numerous circuit and mechanical changes along the way.
