China Broadcasting Performing Arts Group chooses d&b

CHINA: A d&b audiotechnik J Series sound reinforcement system has been selected by one of China’s most respected performing arts societies, the China Broadcasting Performing Arts Group (CBPAG), following a period of evaluation that included a tour of d&b installations internationally.

Described as the leading comprehensive cultural group in China, the CBPAG was first established in 1953 and has since gone on to showcase Chinese culture internationally as the nation has rapidly developed both on a domestic and international footing. Today the group represents the amalgam of five elements: CB Chinese Orchestra, CB Chorus, CB Talking-Singing Arts Group, CB Electronic Orchestra and the China Film Symphony Orchestra, with which it merged in 2003.

In seeking out a new sound reinforcement system capable of meeting its broad requirements, the CBPAG toured a range of installations globally.

‘Among others, we visited Sydney Opera House and the Grand Theatre de Quebec,’ explained Mr Lv Haiping, director of the stage art engineering department. ‘Both houses have a d&b J-Series system and these impressed us a lot.’

The final purchase reportedly followed a successful trial with the system. ‘We were impressed by several factors – real sound reproduced naturally with rich layers and extraordinary dynamic bandwidth, which is so important to traditional Chinese classical compositions,’ continued Mr Haiping. ‘Also it presents impressive power capability and extended headroom. CBPAG tours extensively and at an operational level the system is easy to handle, compact in size for its performance capabilities, easy to transport, and fast and easy to install.’
