AUSTRALIA: Christie Australia has collected the Business Award for Community Support at the recent 2016 CeBIT Business Technology Awards held in Sydney. The prize recognises ‘excellence in the deployment of innovative technology to enhance communities in their social cohesion, environmental responsibilities and expression of common values’ and was presented to Christie for its work on the Christmas Gold Lotto City Hall Light Spectacular.
The Spectacular was a son et lumière that involved the projection mapping of content onto Brisbane City Hall’s façade and clock tower, and was planned and executed by The Electric Canvas, Christie’s Australian solutions partner. The show has taken place during the Christmas periods of 2013, 2014 and 2015, utilising 16 Christie Roadster S+20K 3DLP projectors.
Christie Asia Pacific’s channel development manager, Frank Anzures, accepted the award at the CeBIT Australia gala dinner in the Sydney Olympic Park for the display, which reportedly drove extra traffic to the area and raised additional Christmas spirit throughout the community. The visual effects were described as enabling ‘strengthened community bonding through the creation and sharing of beautiful projections’.
‘This is the first time that we have won a community award and we are thrilled that the Christmas Gold Lotto City Hall Light Spectacular has benefited the community at large,’ commented Michael Bosworth, general manager, Christie Australia. ‘This is an extremely proud moment for all of us and we’re very happy to be the recipient of the Business Award for Community Support. I would like to thank the wonderful team led by Peter Milne from The Electric Canvas for delivering a top-notch show. It’s wonderful that the event had ignited the festive mood and fostered community bonding among Brisbanites during the Christmas season.’
