Cignal becomes first in Philippines to broadcast in DD+

PHILIPPINES: Dolby has announced that direct-to-home (DTH) pay-TV provider, Cignal, has become the first in the country to begin broadcasting using Dolby Digital Plus.

Cignal is owned by Cignal TV, which in itself is a subsidiary of MediaQuest Holding, Inc. Cignal currently serves more than 740,000 subscribers via free-to-air, SD and HD channels. Dolby Digital Plus will be redeployed for three of its HD channels: Cartoon Network HD, MTV Live HD, and Universal HD.
