Cineteatro Macau looks to Geo for live events

CHINA: A Nexo Geo sound reinforcement system has been commissioned to work side-by-side with the original loudspeaker set-up at Cineteatro Macau. The installation – handled by Nexo Greater China distributor Top Plot International – is intended to broaden the cinema’s use to encompass live performances and events.
Located in the centre of the city, Cineteatro Macau boasts three screens, the largest of which dates back to 1982 and accommodates 946 seats in a raked configuration plus a balcony. Two smaller auditoriums were added in the 1990s, with 170 and 104 seats respectively. Approaching the larger auditorium, Top Plot reportedly considered point source solutions for the space, which has a depth of 25m. However, the presence of the balcony and the need for even coverage ultimately convinced the company to move forward with a design based on line arrays.
The auditorium now boasts Geo S12 line array clusters, each comprising three Geo S1210 arrays with 80-degree horizontal dispersion, plus a single 120-degree dispersion S1230. A Geo M620 subwoofer placed under each hang bolsters low-end frequencies, while a further four Geo M620s line the stage lip for front-fill. On-stage monitoring is via four PS10-R2s wedges.
The entire Geo setup is powered by a combination of one NXAMP 4x4 and two NXAMP 4x1 amplifiers with network cards installed to support EtherSound. A Soundcraft Si Performer 3 console is positioned at front of house and Soundcraft mini-stageboxes, positioned on each wing of the stage, provide the necessary control.
