Colin Hill retires from Røde Microphones

AUSTRALIA: Røde Microphones has announced that Colin Hill will be retiring from the company after serving as international sales manager for over 22 years. Mr Hill is described as being instrumental in establishing the company’s presence in almost every major international market.
Joining parent company Freedman Electronics in 1991, Mr Hill was one of only three employees when Røde was originally founded. Along with owner and managing director Peter Freedman, Mr Hill established the brand and launched its first microphone into the international marketplace.
Following being diagnosed with lung cancer last year, Mr Hill can no longer continue his travelling schedule as a result of his treatment.
‘Colin has been with me on this incredible journey since day one,’ commented Mr Freedman. ‘I actually met Colin when I was 19 years old and he was with the UK manufacturer Carlsbro, so we go back a very long way indeed. While I am obviously sad to see him step away from this company that he has been so instrumental in developing, I feel honoured and proud to have had the pleasure of working so closely with a true audio industry legend, and have enjoyed a countless number of laughs and possibly even more drinks with him.’
Mr Hill will continue to be contactable at colin.hill@rodemic.com.
