Constant Technology brings Control to Criniti's Manly

AUSTRALIA: Constant Technology was recently called upon to design, supply and install an audio system for Italian restaurant Criniti's Manly.

‘They wanted a system that would sound great, be well distributed and would offer control of all areas independently,’ commented Con Constantinou, managing director of Constant Technology. ‘The venue has eight audio zones, including a main restaurant, pastry area and outdoor areas, which is quite a lot for a venue of 400sq-m.’

Jands supplied the Harman-brand equipment, comprising 15 JBL Control 42C in ceiling speakers and three JBL Control 40C S/T in ceiling subwoofers for the pastry kitchen and reception area, whilst the toilets and corridor areas are serviced by Control 24 in ceiling speakers. The outdoor seating area on the esplanade features 12 Control 42C in ceiling speakers with a further 16 Control 42C speakers with Control 40C S/T subs installed into the pizza areas.

Meanwhile, the private booth and curtained areas has six JBL Control 42C speakers, a JBL Control 40C S/T sub and four JBL Control 62P pendant speakers with a JBL Control 50S/T sub.

‘The client requested the use of pendant speakers in this area and having already installed the JBL pendant speakers into The Stoned Crow last year, we didn't hesitate to recommend them,’ said Mr Constantinou. ‘These are the slightly larger version and they perform really well. In fact, they sound very good.’

Nine Crown amplifiers, consisting of CT-8150, XLS-1500, XTi-1002, CTi-8150, drive the system with integration completed by a BSS Soundweb London Blu-100 signal processor with digital audio bus. Also supplied was a Shure wireless microphone with wireless receivers located throughout the venue.

‘The client said that the end result was much better than they expected,’ said Mr Constantinou. ‘They said it was fantastic and they are extremely happy with it.’
