dampb audiotechnik entertains HK glitterati

CHINA: A d&b audiotechnik loudspeaker system has been installed into an exclusive venue in Hong Kong which describes itself as ‘Asia's most creative and eclectic vision of lounge, dining and partying for the global glitterati’. While the description may sound a little conceited, Dragon-I can support this boast with a roll call of celebrities who have frequented the establishment since it opened its doors in 2002.
The venue is located on Wyndham Street in Central and heaves with models, celebrities and tycoons who can negotiate their way past the strict security and the velvet ropes. The medium sized club is well laid out, making it intimate enough to socialise, but big enough to have room to move in within three defined zones. The outdoor area has several tables with modern white chairs. In one half of the venue is an area with several circular red velvet banquettes, a raised DJ booth and a medium sized dance floor, whilst in the candlelit, darker side are tables and a long bar.
During the day, a background music system is in operation, but after sundown the resident and guest DJs provide increasing SPLs from the Technics 1210Mk3 turntables, Pioneer CDJ2000 players and Pioneer DJM900 mixer. Keeping in line with the beautiful clientele and the club’s upmarket decor, a d&b audiotechnik loudspeaker system was installed earlier in the year following a consultation process.
The interior is now adorned with ceiling-fixed E12 and E8 loudspeakers finished in white, which are supplemented by two B2-SUB floor standing subwoofers and three wall-recessed Ci7-SUB subwoofers. Powered by D12 amplifiers, the loudspeaker system’s DSP can be monitored and controlled via the D&B Remote Network on a laptop in the DJ booth, which has been installed with an E12X-SUB and two E8 speakers for monitoring purposes. A flick of a switch to utilise the R1 remote control software transforms the day-time to night-time settings in an instant. The entire system was integrated by Mr Pong from Pong’s Engineering Company.
