Dante-equipped GLD-80 takes up residence in NTNU

TAIWAN: National Taiwan Normal University (NTNU) has installed an Allen & Heath GLD-80 digital mixing console into its main auditorium. Distributed through Seapower Technologies, the desk will aid the University’s department of music as well as other speech and music performance courses.

Formerly known as Taipei High School, the University is housed inside an historic building, raising concerns about the potential room acoustics. ‘Not only did we have to focus on the acoustic treatment of such an old room but also on the visual results,’ explained Hsiao Chia-Hsing, sales manager at Seapower Technologies. ‘Consequently, we consulted with all the other contractors managing building works, lighting, rigging, stage, air conditioning and interior design, to ensure the audio system was discreet.’

The GLD system is installed as the main FOH desk and is fitted with a Dante card for use with playback and recording software, and to provide multi-track live recording capability if required.

‘GLD was the obvious choice for this installation,’ concluded Mr Hsiao. ‘The system’s integrated digital dSnake made installation in the listed building simple, and its compact and sleek design offers a small footprint. Furthermore, GLD’s easy user interface is a huge benefit for attending students.’
