DAS appoints Edwards Sound for Australia and New Zealand

AUSTRALIA AND NEW ZEALAND: Spanish loudspeaker manufacturer DAS Audio has appointed Edwards Sound Systems as its exclusive distributor for Australia and New Zealand. Previously represented by Magna Systems, DAS Audio has spent 12 months carefully analysing the market in this part of the southern hemisphere.

‘We didn’t want to rush into choosing any distributor as the Australian and New Zealand market is mature and very competitive,’ commented DAS Audio Asia’s managing director Juan Luis Garcia.

Edwards Sound Systems has represented DAS Audio for 20 years in New Zealand, and so the move bucks the trend of Australian distributors taking their business into the islands across the Tasman Sea. ‘We’re familiar with all DAS Audio’s product lines and now that we have set up an office in Sydney, we feel we’re more than fully equipped to take on this challenge,’ commented managing director Jonathan Hardie Neil.

Edwards Sound Systems carries the Aeromic, Antari, Fenix, Chiayo and ITC Audio brands in New Zealand but are exclusively promoting DAS Audio in Australia together with Spanish lifter company Fenix.

Commercial sales manager Robert Oliver is looking forward to taking the DAS Audio loudspeaker systems to the streets. ‘DAS has an incredibly strong brand presence in the install market thanks to the efforts of Magna Systems here in Australia, and we also have products for the production companies and live sound companies,’ he said.

‘The latest Aero 40 line array, Convert systems and Road series of active stage monitors are going to be extensively demonstrated,’ he added. ‘Having recently showcased these at the recent ENTECH exhibition, many customers were unaware of these but really liked them.’

Juan Luis Garcia was looking forward to a long and prosperous relationship with his New Zealand distributor. ‘It’s slightly odd for a New Zealand distributor to be trading in Australia, but their business plan looks towards the long-term and is aimed at the live production sector. This is in line with DAS Audio.’
