DAS Audio chosen for Chinas largest theatre chain

CHINA: The Gold Coast Company’s flagship theatre – the Dongpo Theater – has been equipped with a new DAS sound reinforcement system to support its two shows Night of West Lake and the Gold Coast Entertainment Show, which are each performed at the venue once a night. Hangzhou Chuangda Stage Facilities, the authorised DAS Audio dealer in Zhejiang Province, was contracted to design and install the theatre’s new sound system.
‘As the largest theatre chain in China, the Gold Coast Company operates over 50 theatre productions at its 14 theatres across China,’ stated Jie Han, Gold Coast Company’s project manager. ‘The Gold Coast Entertainment Show is the most famous brand among Gold Coast Company’s offerings, and the production is presented all year round in each of the company’s theatres. With a total audience volume of over 5 million people per year, this is a very important entertainment property, so it is crucial that our audiences be treated to the very best sound.’
The house mains now consist of 16 Audio Aero 12A two-way, mid-high line array elements – flown eight cabinets per side. An additional four Aero 12A loudspeakers are used for front fill. For low frequency support, four LX-218A powered subwoofers – each with two 18-inch transducers – are ground stacked, two cabinets per side in a left-right configuration. Twelve Audio Artec 28 two-way enclosures are provided for surround fills throughout the theatre. Meanwhile, a DSP-4080 four in/eight out signal processor handles loudspeaker management responsibilities.
‘The performance theatre industry in China is very active and relevant, and for DAS Audio to establish a collaboration with one of the leading companies in this sector is a milestone achievement for our speaker systems in this kind of application,’ said Eduardo Lopez, DAS Audio’s Hong Kong operations manager. ‘Our active, compact line arrays do not detract from the grand appearance of the stage, yet they provide outstanding audio performance and represent a good option for this type of venue. The diversity of performances and music played in this theatre match perfectly well with the variety of applications our line arrays are designed to support, so I am confident there is a good future for DAS Audio,’ he concluded.
