DAS Audio focuses on Enchanted Valley Carnival

INDIA: A DAS audio system was recently used to provide sound reinforcement at the three-day Enchanted Valley Carnival in Pune, India. Event organisers Twisted Entertainment called in Mumbai-based Sound & Light Professionals to design and install the sound solution for the festival. Due to the unique positioning of the stages, the installers had to overcome problems with over-spill.
The carnival in Pune’s picturesque Aamby Valley City saw over 60 international and home grown talents playing across multiple stages. The SNL team had been tasked with ensuring powerful yet clear sound was provided for the both the Main, Live and Trance stages, which faced each other at right angles. After studying the venue the team opted to use Aero 50 line array systems for all three.
The team reportedly carried out extensive sound checks before the event, adjusting parameters to limit the spill between stages. By making use of the short, medium, and long-throw options of the Aero 50s, and by angling the arrays away from each other, they were able to focus the sound onto each of the individual audience areas.
Sixteen powered line arrays were rolled out on the Main stage, flown in two groups on opposite sides of the stage. These were coupled to 12 LX-218 subwoofers. A further six Aero 12A line-array modules were used for front fill, with Avant 12As and a pair of LX-218 subs used for monitoring in the DJ booth.
The set-up at the Trance stage was similar. A total of 12 Aero 50 line array cabinets were flown, with low-end reinforcement provided by 12 LX-218s. Two Aero 12As handled centre full duties while an additional eight Aero 12As combined with two LX-218 were used for DJ fills. The same PA configuration was used on the wider Live stage but with the addition of two extra Aero 12As for centre fill.
At the end of the project, the SNL team credits good communication between its engineers and constructive feedback from the organiser as being vital to overcoming the challenges presented by the festival.
