DAS Audio gets Sunburn in Goa

INDIA: Mumbai’s Sound & Light Professionals (SNL Pro) recently deployed DAS Audio systems for the Sunburn Festival Goa, which has become one of India’s most renowned electronic music festivals over the last six years. DAS sound reinforcement was used to cover three of the event’s seven stages.

Taking place at Condolim Beach, Goa, and attracting more than 65,000 festival goers for its latest edition, Sunburn 2012 brought together world-class DJs and performers for three days of partying across two festival grounds – Ground A with three stages and Ground B with four. Among the international stars appearing were Sander van Doorn, Fedde le Grande and Paul van Dyk, while Indian DJs included DJ Nawed, Ma Faiza and Reggae Rajahs.

SNL Pro deployed DAS Audio systems across all three stages within Ground A, most notably the large Arro’s Cupcake Castle stage. A total of 24 DAS Aero 50 enclosures were flown in two linear formations of 12 systems each on either side of the stage with an additional 24 Aero 218A powered subwoofers for low end. A further four Aero 12A systems were used as front-fills while a combination of two Aero 218 and six Aero 12A enclosures served as DJ monitors, augmented by eight Avant 12A loudspeakers.

A similar system was used for the Immersed stage, with 24 Aero 50 enclosures serving front of house plus 24 Aero 218 subs. Four Aero 28A line array elements were used for front-fill, while monitoring was delivered by four Aero 215 and six Aero 28 cabinets.

Finally, the smaller Caterpillar stage was served by 12 38A powered line array elements split six per-side plus eight LX-218 subwoofers, four Aero 28 systems for front-fills and a pair of Aero 218s combined with eight SML 15A enclosures for monitors. Lab.gruppen PLM amps drove the systems on all three stages.
