DAS Audio selected for MeRadio Rocks The Marina

SINGAPORE: A DAS Audio system provided the sound reinforcement for the recent concert MeRadio Rocks The Marina! which took place at the Marina Promontory in Singapore. Hosted by MediaCorp, the event marked the 75th anniversary of MediaCorp Radio, and more than 25 local acts performed to a crowd of approximately 5,000 music lovers.
Singapore-based Showmakers (S) Pte Ltd was contracted to provide the sound services for the live event, and chose a sound system from DAS Audio to meet the requirements of the concert.
‘We have an Aero 50 system in Singapore that is frequently used for touring throughout the Asia-Pacific region, and we certainly couldn’t leave Singapore – our home market – short-handed, so we worked together with our local partner Showmakers to assemble a system that was well suited for this event,’ explained DAS Audio Asia’s managing director Juan Luis Garcia.
The system in question comprised 16 Aero 50 three-way, large format line array elements – flown as eight enclosures per side for the left and right main hangs. These clusters were augmented by 16 ground stacked LX-218CA subwoofers, placed in a left-right side-fill configuration made up of eight enclosures per side. To provide side-fill coverage for the artists onstage as well as for audience members positioned at the front of the stage, three clusters (each containing four Aero 12A powered, two-way line array elements) were deployed. The left-right side-fills were placed at the far left and right sides of the stage, whilst the centre hang provided front-fill.
The Aero 50’s were driven by a number of FP 10000Q four-channel power amplifiers from Lab.gruppen, whilst a NLB 60E NomadLink Bridge and Network Controller from the manufacturer was selected for amplifier monitoring and control. A DAS Audio DSP-4080 four-input/eight-output DSP-based audio processor handled all loudspeaker management tasks. Meanwhile, eight Road 15A stage monitors and four Road 12A monitors were selected for the on-stage monitoring setup, and an Audio Avant 118A horn-bass subwoofer was utilised for drum-fill.
‘Being part of a MediaCorp event in the sparkling new Marina Bay area was, without question, a great showcase for our large format line array Aero 50 system,’ enthused Jolin Lee, DAS Audio Asia marketing and sales. ‘The MeRadio Rocks The Marina! concert was also a good opportunity for some of the best local bands and artists to experience a DAS sound system, especially the Road stage monitors, which are new to the Asia region.’
