MALAYSIA: dB Technologies equipment recently provided the sound coverage for a two-day music festival held by Malaysia's University College Sedaya International (UCSI) in honour of the institution’s 25th anniversary. Rental company Team One Production provided the system for the event, which was attended by a reported 2,000 people.
Twelve DVA T12 active line array modules hung six per side were utilised for the largest stage, supported by four DVA S30 subwoofers. A DSX2040 digital controller provided further support, and eight Opera 605D speakers and two FM12 units were used for monitors.
‘The T12 system performed flawlessly in the rain and heat, without any additional rain covers,’ said Melvin Goh, Team One Productions' systems engineer. ‘We could rely on the integrated rain hood.’
‘It is an excellent long-throw system, the sound could be heard all the way to the back of the venue – very impressive!’ added Mr Jason, a professional event organiser and supplier.
‘The crew were unfamiliar with dB Technologies prior to the show, but were visibly impressed by what they heard during sound-check,’ said dB Technologies' regional manager Martin Capp. ‘The sound quality during rehearsals convinced them, as did the acknowledgements that were coming in from all sides. There is no doubt that the long-throw DVA T12 system has further established dB Technologies as one of the front runners in the Kuala Lumpur live music scene,’ he asserted.
The university's Contemporary Music Faculty hosted the event, which organised workshops for festival-goers. These indoor forums were kitted out with four Opera 405Ds coupled with four Sub 15Ds, and attendees were able to listen to industry professionals give their opinions on contemporary music.
A ‘jamming’ stage was also set up for those who wanted to showcase their skills, who were able to hear the dB Technologies DVX D15s and Sub 18Ds from the perspective of the stage.
