DiGiCo desk chosen for location recording

AUSTRALIA: Sydney-based location recording specialist Remote Recorders has purchased a DiGiCo SD8 console to help capture a variety of live music performances at events across Australia. Company director James Cadsky has called the desk ‘a perfect solution for our live to air and live tracking projects’.
Remote Recorders is considered one of Australia’s leading companies for location recording for radio and television, covering a mixture of major music festivals and concerts. Among the company’s notable projects in recent years was tracking the Big Day Out festival for Channel V, mixing a performance by Slash for Abbey Road Live, and producing DVD recordings for Muse, NERD and Kanye West. The SD8, which was supplied along with an SD-Rack by DiGiCo distributor Group Technologies, is being used alongside two Madi recorders.
‘Building up a broadcast mix on the SD8 is very quick and easy,’ praised Mr Cadsky, who explained that his choice of SD8 was due to ‘sound quality, sound quality, sound quality. And road worthiness.’ He also added: ‘Ease of use was key for us as the console is frequently used to do live mixes of festivals such as Big Day Out. Sometimes we hire a DiGi-Rack when we require more I\O.’
