AUSTRALIA: A DiGiCo SD8 console has been installed into Melbourne’s Trak Live Lounge Bar, one of the city’s most popular live music venues. The console, which is being used for monitors, was commissioned and installed by Soundcorp Melbourne having been sourced from the brand’s Australian distributor Group Technologies Australasia Pty Ltd.
Located in a former cinema underneath the city’s prestigious Trak Centre, the 600-capacity Trak Live Lounge Bar has fast become a key destination in Melbourne having been open for only one year. The venue houses five bars plus a main space, while two private areas are available for clients in the shape of the Candy Bar and VIP Bar. Artists including Jimmy Barnes, Chris Isaak, Blondie, Marcia Hines and Jade McRae have already appeared on its stage.
The SD8 was specified by Trak’s venue production manager Paul Sherrit. ‘The SD8 is just so configurable,’ he enthused. ‘It makes things really simple when you constantly have different artists coming in who have a range of requirements for their monitoring mixes. I’ve yet to find something it can’t do.’
