DiGiCo SD8s used for the return of Thailands Palmy

THAILAND: A trio of DiGiCo SD8 digital consoles were recently deployed for two sold-out shows at by Thai pop star Palmy, taking place at Bangkok’s Impact Arena.

Attended by thousands of eager fans, the concerts marked Palmy’s return to performing as a solo artist after an absence of five years, whilst also promoting the launch of her new album, Palmy 5. Among the songs featured were the up-tempo Ka Ka Ka and the hit Rockstar Syndrome.

Adding an extra technical challenge, the star entered the arena through the audience with a marching band, while the show itself featured a wide range of instrumentation, a high channel count and several catwalks into the crowd. As a result, front of house engineer Andre Trebbli had a tough job whilst the monitoring requirements were almost as complex as those at FOH.

‘The SD8 has a nice sound and is very easy to use,’ commented Mr Trebbli after the concerts. ‘It was a complex show and riding the faders to keep the music just above the audience levels kept me on my toes, but the consoles coped well and the gigs were a huge success.’
