EampE equips Marina Bay Sands with Shure

SINGAPORE: Electronics and Engineering Pte Ltd recently supplied the Marina Bay Sands’ meetings, incentives, conferences, and exhibitions (MICE) facility – comprising the Sands Expo and Convention Centre – with a range of wireless microphone equipment from Shure. Taking into account the latest purchase, the facility is now reported to own over 100 channels of Shure’s UHF-R wireless systems.

At full capacity, the Sands Expo and the Convention Centre can reportedly accommodate up to 45,000 delegates and up to 2,000 exhibition booths. The facility covers an area over 120,000 sq-m, and within it are six exhibition halls and a total of 250 meeting rooms. The facility is also home to an 8,000 sq-m ballroom that can hold up to 6,000 banquet guests, or 11,000 delegates when seated in a ‘theatre-style’ formation.

Shure’s Tim Vear gave the Marina Bay Sand’s MICE technical operations team a demonstration of a working prototype of Shure’s Axient system, and following this, the team decided to invest in the UHF-R system, deciding that it would ‘work well with the features being introduced with Axient and with Shure’s Wireless Workbench 6’. The MICE team now use the Wireless Workbench 6 (WWB6) software to coordinate more than 100 channels of wireless microphones.

This latest acquisition brings the MICE technical operations’ inventory of UHF-R systems to 55 units of UR4D dual-channel receivers, 116 UR2 handheld transmitters (in a combination of SM58, Beta58 and Beta87 capsules) and a total of 20 UR1 beltpack transmitters.
