EampE installs EAW at Sun Yat Sen Nanyang Memorial Hall

SINGAPORE: Working closely with A/V consultant Peoples’ Media and content provider GSM Media, Electronics & Engineering Pte Ltd was hired to provide a full turnkey solution for the Sun Yat Sen Nanyang Memorial Hall museum.

Crestron equipment provides the facility manager with access and remote touchscreen control of all the technology available in the museum. The volume and source selection of the EAW CIS300 four-inch ceiling and SMS4 ceiling/wall-mounted loudspeakers in each zone are powered by MTS amplifiers, which are interfaced with a Symnet DSP. The ambient audio feeds for each zone are taken from a Tascam SS-R1 compact flash recorder in which wav or MP3 formats have been stored to compact flash media. The recorder includes balanced and unbalanced audio inputs and outputs, RS-232 and parallel control, and a wired remote control.

Meanwhile, dual Panasonic PT-DW6300 projectors have been installed in multiple locations – each providing a brightness of 6,000 ANSI lumens. Two have been combined on one exhibit, and the projector’s ‘Edge Blending’ capability seamlessly connects the two adjacent Remaco screens. Connected to a central server, the video imagery has to run up to a distance of 100m, and is appropriately switched and scaled using Extron appliances.

‘The exhibits had already been planned and E&E was asked to install the A/V systems around it,’ said E&E systems engineer Damian Lin, who worked on the project for a total of four months.

The 19th century property – located in the Balestier district of Singapore – is home to a collection of at least 50 paintings, calligraphy works and sculptures, including a 2m tall bronze wall mural which spans 60m to the back of the building depicting Singapore's history from the 1840s to the 1940s.
