EampE refurbishes Sentosa Hard Rock

SINGAPORE: Having opened its doors in February 2010, the Hard Rock Café (HRC) located at Resort World Sentosa (RWS) has recently approached Electronics & Engineering Pte Ltd (E&E) to design and install its sound reinforcement system. This follows a sound reinforcement upgrade to the restaurant chain’s Orchard Road eatery.
Audio is very much a critical component of the ‘Hard Rock’ experience, and it is a place famed for its vibrant and powerful in-house music. Not only has the music got to deliver a consistent note to the diner in-keeping with its brand image, but it has to do so at decibel levels that are higher than most other restaurants from late morning to early morning the next day – seven days a week. The Hard Rock Café’s website promotes its audio and video system as being ‘state-of-the-art,’ so reliability and consistency were important factors when choosing a sound system.
With this in mind, the RWS Hard Rock’s management decided to upgrade the main FOH speaker system with EAW JFL210 cabinets. Owing to the relatively low ceiling and long dimensions of the Hard Rock Café, two L-R compact line arrays consisting of dual 10-inch speakers have been ceiling mounted to provide a wide horizontal pattern of approximately 110-degrees, and a narrow vertical pattern of 15-degrees.
Operating within a frequency range of 65Hz – 18.5 kHz, the speakers have earned glowing praise from the HRC management, in addition to E&E marketing director Ronald Goh. ‘It’s an industry standard box,’ he enthused. ‘All the diners at the Sentosa Hard Rock now benefit from clear intelligibility and consistently powerful SPL’s when live music is being played through the new FOH system. The speakers not only sound good, but they are also easy to install due to the “quick install” brackets we have custom-made at our workshop.’
The Hard Rock Café has locations in Singapore, Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur, Jakarta, Bali, Beijing and Pattaya.
