E&E installs audio for Temasek Polytechnic’s auditorium

SINGAPORE: Electronics & Engineering Pte Ltd recently installed the audio system for the Temasek Polytechnic’s new auditorium. In a project that was designed by CCW Associates and took approximately 18 months to complete, the entire assignment comprised installing the A/V solution for the auditorium and the foyer, providing production communication, as well as the stage lighting and rigging systems.
The new audio system was part of the educational facility’s overall campus expansion, whereby a new three-storey building was constructed. Inside the new building is the auditorium, which E&E equipped with a Yamaha M7CL 48 channel mixing console for FOH together with a DME64N digital signal processor.
For speakers, E&E – supported by a technical team from d&b – installed a d&b audiotechnik system comprising eight Qi1 installation speakers powered by two D12 dual-channel amplifiers for the frontal left and right loudspeaker clusters, whilst one d&b Qi7 cabinet and one Qi10 install speaker are driven by a D12 amplifier for the frontal centre cluster. Supplementary front-fill loudspeakers comprise six E6 multipurpose boxes driven by two D6 amps. Providing low end are six QiCSA subwoofers powered by two D12 amplifiers, whilst two B2 infra-sub subwoofers were also installed, powered by two D12 amps.
Supplementary surround fill cabinets are provided for in the way of 12 X5S two-way boxes driven by two D6 amps, whilst four E12 speakers powered by two D6s make up the supplementary side-fill system. For stage monitors, six M6 NL4s were chosen, as were three Klark Teknik SQ1Gs equalisers, one SQ1D processor powered by three d&b D6s.
‘d&b were specified for the project due to the client’s preference for quality and clarity,’ commented Khor CH, project manager, Electronics & Engineering Pte Ltd.
Meanwhile, a number of Clear-Com wireless base stations, remote stations, wireless belt packs, headsets and antennas and antennas splitters were selected for the auditorium’s needs, as was equipment from Shure and Denon. For control systems, Crestron’s Pro2 control system processor, C2Com-3 port control card, a C2IR8 and an IRP2 were chosen, whilst Sony equipment was selected for the video element of the project.
‘For me, what stood out was the new Shure UR4 system as it was easy to install, and its auto sensing capabilities avoided any frequency clashes,’ Mr Khor furthered. ‘Now, a user can just bring in a new wireless microphone system and use it without affecting the existing wireless mic system.’
