Electro-Voice celebrates 30 years in China

CHINA: A gala celebration held at the Guangzhou Baiyun International Convention Center recently marked the 30th anniversary of Electro-Voice entering the Chinese market. Attracting more than 200 guests including architectural acoustics experts, end-users, dealers, and journalists, the night included speeches from five special guests, all of whom bore witness to the growth of the brand over three decades.

Taking place on July 31st, the event took place in an important location for Electro-Voice – not only was Guangzhou the city in which the brand first entered China, but the Baiyun International Convention Center remains one of EV’s most successful reference projects in the region.

The evening was led by Fu Yunping, vice president of sales for Bosch’s Security and Communications Systems division in China, plus recently appointed sales director Rodger Dong. During the presentation, Mr Dong contrasted the growth of EV with that of Guangzhou itself. ‘The past 30 years have witnessed China’s economy boom and as one of the few audio brands to have arrived in the country at the beginning of those reforms, Electro-Voice won many symbolic installation projects and great favour from the market,’ he declared.

Later on, global engineering director Bill Gelow delivered a speech on the brand’s global history and design philosophy, senior consultant Shi Min discussed EV’s time in China, and communication technology manager Yang Hua introduced a number of product lines. Finally, a birthday cake-cutting ceremony took place alongside dealer and employee awards.
