Electro-Voice installed into Ajinomoto Stadium

JAPAN: An Electro-Voice sound reinforcement system was recently installed into the multi-purpose Ajinomoto Stadium in Tokyo. The 49,970 capacity stadium will host the 68th National Sports Festival in 2013, amongst a variety of other events and competitions.

The client specified that a ‘superior and reliable’ audio system was required in order to uphold the stadium’s reputation. An Electro-Voice system was said to ‘fit the client’s requirements perfectly’, and the stadium was installed with 20 XLD281 field coverage speakers, 42 TG-5 power amplifiers, 42 RCM-26 DSP/remote modules and four UCC-1 USB-Can interfaces.

To cover the seating area, 134 XLE 181 distributed speakers were installed across 26 different locations. The stand seating area accommodates 50,100 people and is divided into two layers: the upper accommodates 20,600 while the lower has a capacity of 29,370.

The stadium is also used for non-sport events, such as concerts and flea markets. It was put to use as a shelter for survivors of the 2011 Tōhoku earthquake and subsequent tsunami.
