ETG takes Asias first Meyer Sound Mina line array

SINGAPORE: Long-term Meyer Sound user ETG has acquired a number of the loudspeaker manufacturer’s Mina line array elements, becoming the first company in Asia to do so.
Having catered for numerous high-profile corporate events primarily in Singapore’s MICE industry since 1985, ETG has stayed ahead of its competitors by investing in the best entertainment technology available on the market. Its inventory of staging, lighting, video and audio equipment can be used for all manners and scales of functions from birthday parties to glittering international awards. Its clients include many international corporate accounts, who insist on having the very latest technology being used.
ETG’s love for Meyer Sound loudspeakers goes back to 2000, while its stock includes healthy numbers of self powered UPM, UPJ and CQ point source speaker systems. Having decided that a Meyer Sound line array system was now required for its various productions, ETG became the first customer in Asia of the Californian manufacturer’s Mina line array.
Consisting of 20 cabinets, the order also includes HP700 subwoofers and a Galileo 616 loudspeaker processor, all of which were supplied by Coda Audio Services. ‘Before buying anything, I like to see, feel and hear the products,’ commented ETG managing director Gilbert Yap. ‘However, in this instance I broke the rule as Meyer Sound, for me, is such a trusted brand. They manufacture quality speakers which never fail and so I trusted my judgement in this instance.’
The Mina system was quickly put to use on the 6th level of Suntec City between February 24th and 26th, where 6,300 seated guests assembled for the annual insurance marketing gathering, known as the Million Dollar Roundtable. Coda Audio Services supplied a six per side Milo system augmented by HP700 subwoofers for front of house sound reinforcement, while ETG supplied a seven per side Mina system as delay speakers. Primarily used for speech and playback, the resultant system was configured by Coda Audio Services using Meyer Sound’s proprietary MAPP-online. Although the ceiling height enforced some compromises, the combination of Milo and Mina was reportedly flawless.
‘I was amazed by the power of the Mina speakers, which were running at just 50 per cent of their available power,’ continued Mr Yap. ‘The clarity was superb and they blended perfectly with the Milo speaker cabinets in the transition zone. In addition, it was very easy to deploy and was a two man set-up.’
