EventSound adds Si Compact and Si Performer 2 to inventory

AUSTRALIA: Distributed through Jands, Sydney-based EventSound has bolstered its inventory with the addition of Soundcraft Si Compact and Si Performer 2 mixing consoles. Both desks have immediately been put to use – the Compact was taken to an engagement party at Palm Beach, whilst the Si Performer has been used on several events including a live performance with Bastille at the Marquee at the Star in Sydney.
‘As an ardent Soundcraft fan, I was eagerly looking forward to the release of the Compact and Performer series of digital consoles,’ remarked EventSound managing director, Keith Clarkson. ‘These were the first digital consoles I knew how to operate without even turning them on, from just their layout. I like to think of them as the digital console for the analogue guy.’
Selected to cater to smaller functions due to its ease of use, the Compact reportedly performed flawlessly during its first outing at Palm Beach. ‘With such an intuitive layout it was easy to set up for FOH and monitor mixes,’ Mr Clarkson explained. ‘Straight away you feel comfortable with where everything is with only a few hours working experience on the console.’
The Soundcraft Si Performer 2 provides the next step up in functionality for the EventSound crew, giving FOH engineers additional channel EQs and VCAs as well as channel LCD displays. ‘This console has been used for intimate shows with Pink, Taylor Swift, Rudimental, Ed Sheeran, FUN, Dizzee Rascal, and Pompeii,’ furthered Mr Clarkson. ‘I’ve found that most international touring engineers have commented on what a great little board it is.
‘We have set up the Si Performer 2 console with an Optical Madi Card for 64 multitrack outputs direct to a Madi recorder that we frequently use for our live recording work. We have even used the onboard DMX section for control of lighting scenes at some of our corporate conference events.’
Having now become familiar with the new Soundcraft desks, Mr Clarkson feels that there will be little need to seek additional mixing solutions for future events. ‘Alas, since acquiring our Soundcraft digital consoles we now don't like to use anything else, so our other audio consoles are getting fat and lazy wallowing in the warehouse!’ He concluded.
