Extron to no longer exhibit at InfoComm USA and ISE
Published: ASIA
WORLD: Extron Electronics has announced that it will no longer exhibit at InfoComm USA or Integrated Systems Europe (ISE), effective immediately. The manufacturer states that instead, it will now focus its efforts, staff, and resources on activities ‘that directly benefit its customers’, starting with creating additional training facilities and expanding customer support in the US and around the world.
‘Extron has exhibited at every InfoComm USA show since 1986, and at ISE since 1999,’ said Andrew Edwards, Extron president. ‘We have enjoyed and appreciated what these trade shows have become. However, we have concluded that the time and energy put into exhibiting at these short three-day events can better serve our customers by being repurposed toward activities that provide direct benefit and support to our customers. Specifically, we are focused on the creation of additional Extron support and training facilities both domestically and internationally,’ he explained.
Mr Edwards is keen to stress that Extron has ‘a great deal of respect for the Infocomm organisation and its role in our industry’, and that the decision affects the Infocomm USA and ISE tradeshows only.
As explained on ‘Andrew Online’ on the manufacturer’s webpage, Mr Edwards continued: ‘Extron will continue to support the Infocomm organisation in all other ways. The company is built on the philosophy of training and education, and each year thousands of you attend Extron Institute worldwide. Much of the effort that previously went into preparing for and exhibiting at Infocomm USA and ISE will now go towards making Extron training and support even more accessible,’ he explained.
‘There is no doubt we will miss being at these shows, and seeing those of you who chose to attend Infocomm USA and ISE,’ he added. ‘Those of you who know me know I love being on the show floor meeting you face-to-face and talking about our new products. However, with our increased facilities and staff, it will make attending an Extron Institute course easier and more convenient.’
The new training facilities are planned to open in Dallas, New York, and Toronto, with the promise of more to come in the future. The new locations will be in addition to the 16 training and product demonstration facilities that are already stationed throughout the world, which are designed and located to make it easier for A/V professionals to participate in Extron training in facilities near to them and in their native language.
Extron has also recently completed construction on two new, expanded headquarters locations in Anaheim, CA, and Raleigh, NC, which will act as the West and East Coast hubs for the Extron Institute technology training and product certification courses in the US.
Throughout 2012 and beyond, Extron will announce additional product training and customer support initiatives.
