FBT Verve speakers support record-breaking digital painting

CHINA: A selection of FBT loudspeakers are being used to provide audio accompaniment for the largest panoramic digital painting in the world, which is located in China’s Henan province. Named Splendid Central Plains, the painting is housed on the third and fourth floors of the 388m Zhongyuan Fu Tower in Zhengzhou, and is listed in the Guinness Book of World Records.

Measuring 18m high and 164m long and covering an overall surface area of 3,520m2, the digital artwork is equivalent in size to seven basketball courts and is intended to reflect the historical heritage of Henan province. It includes 96 sites of interest including the monuments of Dengfeng, the Longmen Grottos in Luoyang and the Yinxu Museum in Anyang. The painting was recently unveiled to the public following the opening of the 141-hectare tower in February of this year.

The FBT loudspeakers – supplied by the Italian manufacturer’s Chinese distributor Voci Dorate – were selected following a period of evaluation which saw representatives of the gallery tour similar installations elsewhere in the world. Several European and American brands were reportedly tested within a simulation of the gallery area before FBT was chosen. The final installation comprises 26 Verve 152 two-way enclosures plus six PSR 118S 18-inch subwoofers. Two Verve 8M monitors have also been supplied. Powering the system are six FBT Symbol 12000 and two Symbol 18000 amplifiers, while four DLM26 processors handle speaker processing.

At 388m, the 101-storey Zhongyuan Fu Tower is the tallest steel tower in the word and is itself considered a landmark within Henan province. It combines the functions of a TV signal transmission tower, tourist attraction and educational and cultural centre.
