Florida Beach Bar receives JBL makeover

AUSTRALIA: Following a recent renovation which saw two separate spaces combined to form one multi-zone bar, restaurant and entertainment venue, the Florida Beach Bar at the Crowne Plaza Terrigal in New South Wales has been equipped with a JBL sound system. Using Harman brands distributed by Jands, AVents Solutions designed, supplied and installed a comprehensive A/V system in the bar’s eight zones.
Each of the zones required different speaker types to suit each section’s acoustics, and JBL’s Contractor speaker series was selected as the appropriate solution for these requirements. Crown amplifiers including XTI6002s, XTI4002s, XTI2000s, XLS1500s, CDI1000s and 180As power the speakers, and a BSS London Blu-100 12 x 8 DSP signal processor with a BSS Blu-Bob2 break out box handle audio processing duties. Two BSS Blu-8V2 local remote controls are positioned at locations in the bar for easy access. AVent Solutions also supplied three Jands JLX- Lite lighting bars for the stage area.
‘We specified JBL Control 29AV 300W speakers to cover the outside terrace, while at the bar entry we used the smaller, less powerful Control 25AV 200W speakers,’ commented Greg Cartagena, owner of AVent Solutions. ‘In the centre bar we required in-ceiling speakers so we chose the Control 24CT model and Control 19CS in-ceiling subs. For the toilet zones we selected JBL C24CTM 8W speakers.
‘As you move further into the rear venue we again installed eight C29AVs for room fill mounted on U brackets in horizontal throw angle positions. There is a raised area in a far back room corner where a DJ station and band stage is located where we added a small-sized FOH speaker combination comprising two higher powered JBL AM5212 /95 400W speakers and a JBL SRX 718s sub cabinet for a power boost for late night use,’ he explained.
Working with Mr Cartagena was AVent Solutions’ project audio engineer and programmer David Gilfillan. Mr Cartagena said that ‘a limited budget played a big part in specifying for this project. However, the Contractor Series allowed us to provide the sound reproduction quality we required for the well-balanced sound volume impact we needed. We achieved the best possible outcome for the client’s budget and outcome result - and that makes everyone happy!’ he enthused.
