Fulcrum system allows easy transport and time travel

AUSTRALIA: Babba seeks to transport its audiences back to the 1970s with each gig, but travelling between shows across Australia, New Zealand and Asia, the tribute band required a sound system that was portable as well as powerful. A Fulcrum Acoustic rig was selected as the solution by Babba’s audio director Simon Stavenuiter, who had been previously impressed by the manufacturer’s loudspeakers.

The system comprises an FA22ac dual 12-inch coaxial loudspeaker on each side of the stage, pole-mounted above a TS215ac subwoofer. Two FA12ac wedges are utilised as monitors, while an FA28ac provides click track and serves as a monitor for the drummer.

‘Fulcrum Acoustic systems deliver exceptional power and performance compared to other systems we've taken out,’ explained Mr Stavenuiter. ‘Our earlier system used a pair of 12-inch cabinets stacked on top of an 18-inch sub per side. The Fulcrum system transports a whole lot easier; there is only one cabinet and one sub per side, and the top is light enough for me to mount on the pole without assistance.’

The FA22ac loudspeakers also feature a rotatable horn and on-board DSP, which has reportedly proven a crucial element for Mr Stavenuiter. ‘Between the rotatable horn and the built-in processing, I'm able to tailor the system coverage for pretty much any space we need to fill,’ he added.

‘Every previous system we've used, we've pushed to their extremes,’ Mr Stavenuiter concluded. ‘With our Fulcrum system, I've never encountered a room where we have not had enough PA.’
