GLP shines a light on MBC’s new headquarters

KOREA: Having moved into a new facility in Seoul’s Digital Media City, GLP Spot Ones have been used to create a visual display at Korean broadcaster MBC's headquarters as part of a project undertaken by local stage lighting specialists, NES Korea.
Capable of throwing their beams up to 30m, a total of eight Impression Spot Ones are mounted inside domes to protect them from weather conditions. The water- and dust-proof protective lighting domes are suspended from a street lamp support that was custom developed by the contractors. The lights are controlled and focused via the lighting console through a wireless transceiver. The fixtures are then switched on and off automatically between the hours of 8pm-10pm.
Detailing the reasons behind the selection of the Spot Ones, NES project manager, Jeonghyum Nam explained, ‘It was because of the powerful LED output and 16 rotating gobos (via two gobo wheels) that we suggested the GLP impressions.'
According to Micheal Münz, who heads up the GLP Hong Kong office, the client and contractors were more than happy with the display's result: ‘From the moment this solution was tested it was clear that the Spot One was the correct choice. It is extremely impressive to see the stunning performance of the Spot One over such a long throw.’
