SOUTH KOREA: Yongjun TNC recently installed an RCF sound reinforcement system into the Goyang Gym swimming pool in Ilsan, Kyungi-Do, South Korea. A waterproof system with high intelligibility was high on the agenda for the facility, which boasts 1,554 seats, a 10-lane 50m competition pool, a four-lane 25m auxiliary pool, and a diving pool.
In total, Yongjun TNC installed 36 weatherproof RCF P3108 full range, wide-dispersion, two way loudspeaker systems into Stand A, and a further 12 P3108 into Stand B. Amplification is provided for by 14 RAM Audio S2000 amps, whilst additional equipment comprises four dbx DriveRack 260 digital speaker management systems, a Soundcraft GB8 console, four TOA WT-5805 UHF wireless tuners, and a MD350 recorder and one CD-RW901SL CD recorder from Tascam.
‘A waterproof solution was one of the main reasons the client chose RCF,’ said Lars Yoshiyama, sales manager at RCF. ‘The stability of the speaker systems in a high humidity environment was also key, as was the lightweight nature of the speakers themselves.
‘As the surface of the pool water has a strong reflection pattern, we needed to calculate the exact coverage and the required response of the speaker system to achieve high speech intelligibility,’ he explained.
‘Due to the speaker system being well balanced and finely tuned, you can hear an even sound wherever you stand in the swimming pool. It produces a clear and soft sound, even more so than we predicted!’
