ASIA: UK-based visual display specialist Green Hippo has outlined far-reaching plans for raising its profile in Asia, including a series of seminars, an upcoming appointment and staff training in Mandarin. The company has declared that it is ‘confident of a significant increase in market awareness and a resulting rise in market share’ across the region.
Key to the strategy is a roadshow taking in Indonesia, Singapore, Thailand and Malaysia over 10 days following Palme Singapore. Dates announced so far are July 19th at Jakarta’s Swiss Bel Hotel between 1pm and 5pm and held in conjunction with E&E Indonesia, and July 22nd in Kaula Lumpur in conjunction with Broadcast Professional Sdn Bhd.
Condensed two-hour seminars on the company’s flagship product, the Hippotizer, will also be held at Palme Singapore, which is taking place at the Marina Bay Sands Expo and Convention Centre, on July 13th and 14th between 2pm and 3.30pm. Green Hippo will be exhibiting on the Broadcast Professional booth.
Meanwhile, the company’s sales manager Samantha Bailey has recently based herself in Xian, undertaking an intensive course in Mandarin. ‘One of the key issues we have found dealing with China is the language barrier,’ Ms Bailey explained. ‘Learning to speak Mandarin, whilst certainly challenging, will reap long term benefits for the company and result in closer ties with customers in this region.’
Finally, the manufacturer’s Asian distributors are to be invited to London for training, while the appointment of a technical sales person specifically for the Asian market is expected within the coming months.
